CPPSB News and Notes: Softball / Baseball Sectional Info
The
Charlestown Lady Pirate Softball team traveled to Southwestern
(Hanover) Thursday scored four runs on seven hits to win 4-2. The Lady
Pirates were led by three of three batting by Alyssa Price and 14 strikeouts
by Alli Webster. The Lady Pirates will finish their
regular season Saturday hosting the Charlestown Invitational at the
Charlestown High School. The Lady Pirates (20-3) will face Crothersville at
10:00 am in the first game, while Austin and Brown County will also
participate in the one day tourney. The Lady Pirates will then travel to
North Harrison on Tuesday, May 22nd for a 7:30 pm for first round
Sectional play versus Scottsburg. CPPSB will broadcast every second of Lady

The
Charlestown Pirate Baseball team traveled to Paoli Thursday and took
care of business, dropping the home Rams to 8-13 with a 10-0 drumming.
The Pirates (16-9) will host Lanesville Friday evening at the Charlestown Little League. The Lanesville game
will include Senior Day festivities conducted prior to the 7:00 pm
first pitch start time. The Pirates will close out the regular season
this Saturday, May 19th with a double-header at New Washington
morning. Pirate Baseball Sectional play will be hosted by Silver Creek High
School, with Charlestown drawing the first round bye and not playing until
Monday, May 28th in the first semi-final round game scheduled to
begin at 11:00 am.

Charlestown Pirate Summer Boys Basketball Camps Announced
The Charlestown Pirate Basketball program has planned three different weeks of summer boys basketball camps, for three different age groups. The Pirate Basketball Camps are designed to provide the youth of Charlestown with an enjoyable, instructional experience with the game of basketball. The program’s plan is to provide positive teaching in the fundamentals of basketball as well as sportsmanship and teamwork. The three one-week camps are: Week 1- June 4th thru 7th- Little Pirates Camp (Rising Grades Pre/K-2nd) - 9 to 11 am; Week 2 - June 11th thru 14th - Young Bucs Camp (Rising Grades 3rd thru 5th) – 9 to 11 am; and Week 3- June 18th thru 21st - CMS Pirates (Rising Grades 6th thru 8th) – 9 to 11 am. The cost of a one week camp is $25 per camper, if pre-registered by June 4th, and $30 per camper after June 4th. Sports Physicals Available May 21st at Charlestown MS
Sports Physicals for the 2012-13 CHS and CMS school year will be available at the Charlestown Middle School on May 21st from 5:30 pm to 7:00 pm. All current 5th – 11th graders are encouraged to get their sports physicals through this event. A parent or guardian must accompany athletes at the time of the physical, at a cost of $20.00 each (CASH ONLY). The physicals will be good for the 2012-2013 school year for all grade levels. Physical forms are available at the IHSAA.org website or via download and print by CLICKING HERE. Lady Pirate Basketball Camp, May 21st – 25th
The Lady Pirate Basketball program will hold a youth basketball camp for current grades K-7th (according to the 2011-12 school year) at the Charlestown High School May 21st through 25th. The camp will run each day from 3:30 pm to 5:00 pm, at a cost of $35.00 per camper if registered before May 15th and $40.00 per camper if registered after may 15th. The camp fee includes a t-shirt, after school transportation to the high school, as well as a drink and snack for each camper. The camp focus will be on fundamentals. Using new drills, skill stations, along with challenging competitions to begin to develop each camper into a fundamentally sound basketball player. Proper shooting technique, passing, ball handling and defensive strategies are just some of the things the Charlestown Lady Pirate coaches and players will teach during this fun-filled camp.
