Pirates Down Salem 53-50, Advance to Friday's Semi-Final
The Pirate Basketball team used the majority of three periods to pace themselves past then hold on for a three point Sectional opener victory 53-50 over Salem. Pirate Basketball Advance Sectional Tickets On Sale NOW
The Charlestown High School Athletic Department is selling boys sectional advanced tickets in the CHS Student Services Center between 9am and 3pm. The boys sectional is hosted next week by North Harrison High School. Tickets are $6.00 per session (one night of games) or $10.00 for an all-session ticket (all sectional game admission). Charlestown will open sectional play Tuesday evening versus Salem at approximately 7:30 pm., at North Harrison High School. Pirates Win Third Straight MSC Battle, 66-59 at Eastern
The Pirate Basketball team, young yet improving, improved their season record to 5-14 (3 - 6 MSC) after traveling to Pekin (5-14) Wednesday evening and beating the Musketeers 66-59. The victory makes the third win out of the last three MSC opponents. The Pirates will finish their regular season Friday night in the CHS Sports Arena, hosting Floyd Central on Senior Night. The Pirates will then open Sectional play next Tuesday versus Salem in the second first round game beginning at approximately 7:30 pm.
Three Indiana All-Star Pirates Honored Friday Evening
The Charlestown High School Athletic Department, honored three new Indiana All-Stars this past Friday night just prior to the tip of the home boys basketball game. The three new All-Star Honorees are Chris Braun (Boys Tennis), Aaron Daniel (Football), and Alli Webster (Softball). These three CHS All-Stars join the ranks of previous Pirate and Lady Pirate All-Stars Kem Martin (1976), Richard Lanham (1990), Kristin Mattox (1992), Abby Conklin (1993), BJ Steele (1999), and Chris Brady (2007). During Friday night’s recognition ceremony, all three All-Star Honorees had their framed Indiana All-Star Portrait and All-Star jersey unveiled before being hung on the Pirate and Lady Pirate All-Star Wall of the CHS Sports Arena. The 2013-14 school year marks the first time in Charlestown HS history that three All-Stars were named in the same school year. During the combined CHS athletic careers of these three new All-Star honorees, they account for over 43 new school athletic records in their respective sports of Boys Tennis, Football and Softball.
