01/26/12:
1962 Sectional Champs to be
Recognized Feb. 3rd at CHS
 The
Charlestown High School Athletic Department will host a Recognition
Night on Friday, February 3, 2012, at the CHS Sports Arena; recognizing the
school's first ever sectional win by the 1962 Pirates basketball team.
It's been 50 years since that great moment in history when Coach Dale
McNeely and his band of Pirates beat the Clarksville Generals at the
Jeffersonville Fieldhouse winning our first ever crown at the 1962
Jeffersonville Sectional. On hand to celebrate the occasion will be
six former outstanding members from that elite Pirate squad. They are:
Paul Blevins, Dr. Kenny Blick, Tom Ledbetter, Ron Matthews, Tom Rhodes,
and George True. Gary Dale Bridgewater, nephew of Coach Dale
McNeely will be there to represent his celebrated uncle who passed away in
2004. Members of the cheer squad will be there, as well.
Everyone is encourage to come out and give them a great big warm reception
at the Charlestown High School Sports Arena, Friday, February 3, 2012,
between the JV and Varsity Charlestown-Austin basketball game. A hospitality
room will be set up for everyone to meet and greet the players afterwards.

CHS Homecoming Date Moved to
February 9th
The
2012 Basketball Homecoming for boys and girls, has been rescheduled
for Thursday, February 9th when Pirate Basketball hosts the North Harrison
Cougars in the CHS Sports Arena.

12/02/11:
Pirates Dominate Warriors in
85-53 Victory at the Arena
 The
Pirate Basketball team hosted the Scottsburg Warriors (1-2 & 1-2 MSC)
in MSC play Friday evening. The Pirates (2-1 & 1-1 MSC) raced out of
the gate early and never looked back, using suffocating defense that
provoked nearly 20 visitor turnovers. The Pirates led 52-23 at the
midway point paced by Senior Kendall Thompson and Junior Aaron
Daniel. Daniel finished the game with 25 points and 10
assists while Thompson added 23 points and 10 rebounds.
Senior David Cissell played a strong game chipping in 14 for the
winners. Thompson was named the Tumbletown Player of the Game
by PPSB at the conclusion of their broadcast. The Pirates are back in
action Tuesday at Henryville.

Pirate Basketball Annual Alumni Game as Part of Big Blue Madness
The
Charlestown The Charlestown Pirates Boys Basketball Program will be
hosting its’ 2nd Annual Boys Basketball Alumni Game on
Saturday, November 19th, 2011 in the Charlestown High School
Sports Arena. The CHS Pirate Basketball program is currently looking for
any former CHS graduate player that has interest in participating in this
fund raising event. The alumni game will take place in conjunction with the
annual Big Blue Madness Night, the 2011-12 season kick-off event.
Big Blue
Madness will begin at 6:00 pm with introductory mini-scrimmages for the
Charlestown Middle School 7th and 8th grade teams,
followed by mini-scrimmages of the high school’s freshmen, JV and Varsity
Squads. The 2nd Annual Alumni game will top off the evening at
approximately 8:30 pm, and will consist of two twenty minute halves.
The
Alumni Game is a program fund raiser, with a $20 per player participation
fee. All checks should be made payable to Charlestown Pirate Pride with
Boys Basketball Alumni Game in the memo. Alumni players will receive a
t-shirt to wear in the game and should bring their own basketball shoes and
shorts.
This
event is intended to provide a fun experience for future, current and
veteran Pirate basketball players to play and interact in our new gymnasium
while bringing the Pirate Basketball Family Together.
