The 2008 Charlestown Cross Country Invitational
was held on Thursday, August 28th at the Charlestown State Park, with
sixteen area high school participating in the 5000 meter run for both boys
and girls. Three runners received awards for their finish placing in
each race.
Top finisher for the Pirates in the Girls Varsity Race
was Freshman KATIE BURKHART, competing in her first varsity race.
Katie ran a great race placing 5th overall in a time of 24:28.
In the Boys Varsity Race, the top award winners are
Junior TYLER NEWCOMB, who placed 19th overall in a time of 19:04; and
running his first Varsity Race, Freshman PATRICK WERNER, placed 22ND
overall in a time of 19:37. Additional notable Pirate Runners and
times are as follows: Sophie Higazy - 40:24, Stephen Martin
