Pirates
2008 Season Summary:
The 2008
season was a great one, filled with broken records and champions. The
Pirate 400 meter relay team, consisting of Aaron May (12), James Kendrick
(G), Jeff Twigg(G), and Justin Baxtron(12), was dominating all season
and was able to turn their handwork and dedication into becoming
MSC Champions, Sectional Champions, and Regional
Champions. The Bloomington North Regional is where they set a
new school record in the relay with a time of 44.29 and earning a
spot at the state finals.
Justin
Baxtron was also able to gain many honors of his own by setting a new
school record in the 200 meter with a time of 22.4 at the
Scottsburg meet. Justin won first place in the 100 meter at the
Jeffersonville Sectional and second in the 200 meter dash to qualify for
regional. At the regional, Justin finished third in the 100 and 200 meters
qualifying him for the state championship.
Adam
Caudill (G) and Bowman Thrasher (G) enjoyed a trip to the Bloomington
North Regional as well. Caudill participated in the shot put and Thrasher
in both the shot put and discus events.
Jerry
Cooper (12) was able to take full advantage of his first year running by
advancing from sectional with a fourth place finish and competing in the
regional with a sixth place finish. The 2008 season was also filled with
lots of personal best by every athlete on the team and many memories, and we
are looking forward to an exciting 2009 season.
