Lady Pirate Volleyball defeats Clarksville, with Energy
The
Lady Pirate Volleyball team pulled out a win last night against the
visiting Clarksville Lady Generals. "The girls came out energetic and ready
to play their game and in the end it paid off", commented Coach Cook.
In the first game Senior Ashley Smothers had 4 kills against the Lady
Generals, providing a major contribution to the 25-14 Lady Pirate advantage.
During the second game, the Lady Pirates came out even more pumped up and
ready to work hard as Junior Emily Young had a couple kills and five
"wonderfully placed" tips, the Lady Pirates took game two 25-10. In
the third and what would be the final game, the girls came out ready to
finish it, and finish is what they did. Seniors Rebecca Lawson
and Ashley Smothers showed there was no backing down against the Lady
Generals. Lawson had a handful of beautiful digs, one dig bringing it
to Smothers serve; while Smothers finished the game with nine continuous
serves to seal the win against Clarksville 25-16. "All the girls
played great, they showed team work and a determination to win and it
showed", concluded Coach Cook. The Lady Pirates are back on the road
Tuesday night at Eastern High School. |
