Pirate Wrestling Wins their 7th
Straight MSC Title
The
Pirate Wrestling team once again made it clear Saturday, that MSC
grappling dominance remains in Charlestown. The Pirates dominated
their conference foes at the 2012 MSC Championships, hosted by Corydon
Central, compiling a team score of 239 points. Eastern finished second
with 168, followed by Corydon's 116, Scottsburg's 110, and Salem's 85.
The tile is Charlestown's 7th consecutive wrestling title and the 9th out of
the last 10 years. MSC winners for the Pirates included Haynes
(120), Gomez (126), Stewart (145), Hall (170),
McCutchen (182) and Hoff (220). Four Pirates:
Huddleton, Heil, Pfohl, and Cruce all picked up 2nd place /
Honorable Mention decisions for the Champions.

Pirate Grapplers, led by Jacob
Hall, Finish Well at Mooresville
The Charlestown Pirate
Wrestling team
finished tied for 10th out of 16 teams at the annual
Mooresville Classic this past December 27th and 28th. The Pirates had eight
of our thirteen wrestlers place in the tournament, headlined by Jacob
Hall in the 170 Lbs. weight class. Hall's pin in the tournament finals
gave Charlestown their first Mooresville Classic champion. Hunter
Huddelston (113) and Cameron Stuart (132) each placed sixth,
while Kameron Heil (138) placed seventh. Artemio Gomez (126),
Taylor Pfohl (145), Adam Hoff (195), and Will Sparrow
(285) each finished in eighth place for the Pirates.

Pirate Grapplers Advance Three
to Wrestling Semi-State
The Charlestown Pirate
Wrestling team
advanced ten wrestlers to Saturday's Jeffersonville Regional; three of which
finished in the top four to earn a Semi-State berth. Pirate Junior
Cory Suddeth (28-11) finished 4th in the 152 weight class; Junior
Jacob Hall (33-8) finished 2nd in the 160 pound class; and Senior
Ethan Bowen (35-6), in the 171 weight class, also finished second.
These Pirates will travel to Evansville Reitz High School next Saturday to
compete in the state semi-state round.
