CHS Homecoming Date Moved to February 9th

The 2012 Basketball Homecoming for boys and girls, has been rescheduled for Thursday, February 9th when Pirate Basketball hosts the North Harrison Cougars in the CHS Sports Arena.

Four Lady Pirates Advance to Swimming Sectional Finals

The Lady Pirate Swim Team competed in the 2012 IHSAA Sectional Swimming preliminaries hosted by Floyd Central High School on Thursday evening, with 16 other local schools.  Of the eight Lady Pirates to swim in the match, four will see action again on Saturday afternoon when the sectional swimming and diving finals are held at Floyd Central.  [ more ]

Lady Pirates Draw Brownstown in Sectional Round #1

The Lady Pirate Basketball team learned their necessary path to a Sectional Championship Sunday evening; during the annual IHSAA Girls Basketball Sectional draw.  The Lady Pirates play in Sectional #30, which again this year will be hosted at the Charlestown HS Sports Arena.  The Lady Pirates (4-14) will play Brownstown (17-2), Wednesday evening February 8th at 6:00 pm.  The rest of Sectional #30 girls brackets include North Harrison and Salem facing off Tuesday evening February 7th; with that winner moving on the Semi-Final round to meet Scottsburg, which drew the sectional bye.  Silver Creek and Corydon will match-up in Wednesday’s second game, beginning at approximately 7:30 pm.  [ more ]

Pirate Wrestling Wins their 7th Straight MSC Title

The Pirate Wrestling team once again made it clear Saturday, that MSC grappling dominance remains in Charlestown.  The Pirates dominated their conference foes at the 2012 MSC Championships, hosted by Corydon Central, compiling a team score of 239 points.  Eastern finished second with 168, followed by Corydon's 116, Scottsburg's 110, and Salem's 85.  The tile is Charlestown's 7th consecutive wrestling title and the 9th out of the last 10 years.  MSC winners for the Pirates included Haynes (120), Gomez (126), Stewart (145), Hall (170), McCutchen (182) and Hoff (220).  Four Pirates:  Huddleton, Heil, Pfohl, and Cruce all picked up 2nd place / Honorable Mention decisions for the Champions.
